Mae, 2-years-old, has always been an active, healthy, cheerful, loving and silly child. She loves to play and sing with her big sister Mika, 5-years-old. In January 2014, just a month after her 2nd birthday, she began to get irritable and had a few other symptoms that could have been associated with the beginning stages of a tummy bug. After a few days, Mae began to act lethargic and began to show some signs of being in pain. With the first signs of this being something other than a bug, her parents, Andrea and Scott, had her seen by a doctor. On January 26, 2014, Mae was hospitalized with elevated liver enzymes.

After numerous tests and an invasive surgery, Mae was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. Chemotherapy began on February 5th, 2014. The next 18-months would be a long road for Mae and her family. The expenses were high and filled with multiple rounds of chemotherapy, scans, and surgeries. Mae takes cannabis oil sublingually twice a day, 100 mg CBD and 5 mg THC.

From Mae’s father, Scott:

“We still make trips out to Grand Rapids to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital to get scans every three months. She is currently NED, but with a 50% relapse rate for neuroblastoma children, we are still very nervous, especially since she is high-risk and MycN amplified.

That is why we have done so much research on cannabis oil and the benefits of it for both treating diseases as well as its symptoms. We wanted to find an oil made by people we could trust, and that was pure and tested by two independent facilities. This is why we chose CannaKids.”
